As the final notes of the NYSERNet song echoed through The Lodge and the last conversations wrapped over Friday’s lunch, NYSCIO 2025 came to a close, leaving us inspired, energized and more connected than ever.
This year’s gathering was a celebration of our 40 year history in leadership, innovation and the incredible community that powers New York’s research and education landscape. From thought-provoking keynotes to interactive think tanks and candid hallway conversations, NYSCIO once again delivered what it does best: creating space for strategic dialogue and shared discovery.
🎶 A Musical First: The NYSERNet Song
One of the most talked-about moments? The creation of the NYSERNet song. What began as a playful idea turned into a collaborative masterpiece thanks to the creativity, humor and enthusiasm of our community. Attendees contributed verses and chorus lines that came together to form something truly original and truly NYSERNet.
We’re excited to share the final, fully produced version of the NYSERNet song video, debuting it publicly for the very first time. Watch and enjoy this joyful tribute to our mission and the incredible community that inspires it.

🧩 Reimagining Membership & Security: Your NYSERNet, Your Future
One of the most meaningful moments of NYSCIO 2025 was the unveiling of NYSERNet’s new membership model and cybersecurity solutions — a reflection of our commitment to putting members at the center of everything we do.
In a special session led by NYSERNet’s Chief Membership Officer Anna Walsh and Chief Information Security Officer Emilyann Fogarty, attendees were introduced to a redesigned membership structure that brings more clarity, value, and flexibility to institutions of all types and sizes. The session also featured a deep dive into new and upcoming cybersecurity offerings.
