The Quilt is the national coalition of non-profit U.S. regional research and education networks representing 43 networks across the country. Members of The Quilt provide advanced network services and applications to over 900 universities and thousands of other educational and community anchor institutions.

nysernet participates in a national commercial Internet service buying club operated by The Quilt, a consortium of regional network providers works together to deliver low-cost, high performance network services to the research and education community. Every two years, the Quilt seeks vendors willing to offer discounts based on the aggregate Quilt bandwidth purchase, negotiates pricing and terms, and passes the savings to NYSERNet and its members.

Twice per year, nysernet coordinates participation in the SANS Institute Aggregate Buy Program, offering our members access to top-tier technical training, certifications, and awareness programs at substantial cost savings.

Members can purchase SANS training course vouchers at a >50% discount with additional savings applied to test vouchers, cyber ranges and security awareness trainings purchased.

A dedicated engineer will assess your needs, match you to service providers based on mission and budget and serve as your project manager through the discovery and contract process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Organizations partnering with nysernet on connectivity or cybersecurity services must be a member.

Non members are welcome to purchase educational services and attend nysernet events.

Assist and Consult Tier members can use their professional development credits toward nysernet Learning Pathways or Certification Courses. Each credit = one Learning Pathway or one Certification Course for one individual from your team.

No. nysernet members can purchase additional credits and/or credit bundles to use toward cybersecurity, consulting or education services as needed. Consult Tier members receive a discount on credit bundle purchases.

Both service and professional development credits expire 12 months after they are issued and do not roll over, unless otherwise stated in your contract.

No. nysernet membership is organization-wide. Benefits can be used by anyone at your organization.
