The University of Rochester is leading the development of a new tool called a high amperage driver for extreme states, or HADES. Working in collaboration with Cornell University, University of Michigan, Idaho State University, University of Iowa, Princeton University and Stanford University, the project will allow scientists to produce and study dark matter, furthering the university’s goal of becoming a leader in high-energy-density science. The National Science Foundation has awarded the university with a $1.1 million grant for its research, and the university will utilize NYSERNet’s R&E network.
