Researchers are developing a tool that would seek out, capture, and de-orbit space debris. The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute team is developing this creative solution to the increasing problem of debris in space. They are hoping that the tool, which they have named OSCaR (short for Obsolete Spacecraft Capture and Removal), can be inexpensively sent into orbit aboard larger vehicles and then released to seek out debris.
