Plastic Pollution Can Lead to Disease in Coral Reefs

A study led by Cornell University has found that plastic debris ultimately intensifies disease in coral, which can lead to escalated danger for reefs. When plastic and coral meet, the likelihood of disease raises from 4 percent to 89 percent. The scientists’ goal for this new information is to prompt new policy on reducing plastic pollution.
