The next CI Brownbag talk will occur Friday June 28th @ 2pm ET. The speaker will be Doris Sajdak from the University at Buffalo Center for Computational Research and she will be speaking about “Introducing ColdFront: an HPC allocations management system”. A quick abstract for the talk:
ColdFront is an open source HPC resource allocation and management system. It is designed as a one stop solution for three main roles in any HPC center: principal investigator, HPC system administrator, and center director. PIs use a web-based portal to request allocations and access to systems, manage user access, and report on how their system use resulted in grants and publications. Center directors can view and approve allocation requests as well as compile reported data to display return on investment metrics. Center system administrators use ColdFront to interface with job schedulers and account databases to automate the access approved by the director.
ColdFront is written in Python using the Django web framework. The Django web framework organizes related set of features into apps. Apps are combined together to make up a project or system. The core apps support the core functionality of ColdFront. The plugin apps extend or modify the core functionality of ColdFront. For instance, plugins can integrate with third party systems for job scheduler account automation and access control. Community contributes are highly encouraged! https://coldfront.io
