Stony Brook University scientists are working with a team of doctors from around the world to sequence DNA using portable technology. By using portable, in-country sequencing, scientists are able to diagnose diseases such as tuberculosis and keep track of the progression of the illness at a much faster pace than before. The researchers at Stony Brook will be assisting in training healthcare facilities in Madagascar in the use of the technology.

The worldwide collaboration is assisted by NYSERNet’s R&E network.
