SUNY Oswego researchers involved in a project to monitor the Great Lakes found in a recent study that pollutant levels have been decreasing. By studying the trout that live in the lakes, particularly Lake Ontario, the scientists have found that the contaminants they’ve focused on have become less prevalent. They have also noted that the fish are beginning to live longer, meaning there is more time for them to absorb toxins. According to the scientists, this means their samples may contain more contaminants than accurately reflects what is in the lake.

SUNY Oswego and Clarkson University are connected to NYSERNet’s R&E network.
