RIT researcher works towards 3D-printed human tissue regeneration

An engineering professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology is developing new 3D printing techniques to regenerate human tissue. He found through research that combinations of polymers and biomaterials can successfully form scaffolds — 3D-printed structures that tell the body to regrow its own tissue. The engineers are building these three-dimensional parts in an effort to develop “smart” 3D-printed bone, skin and cartilage tissue replacement, which could reduce the need for human organ donations in the future.

The Rochester Institute of Technology is a member of NYSERNet’s R&E network. Read more about the work here: https://www.rit.edu/news/rit-faculty-researcher-creates-3d-printed-platforms-produce-bone-and-tissue-replacements
