A group of scientists, led by researchers at Stony Brook University, have discovered that concrete and buildings made from it help remove airborne sulfur dioxide — a pollutant produced by the very factories that make the concrete in the first place. The researchers see the discovery as an opportunity for urban designers to tackle pollution with new and existing building materials.
