Researchers from Cornell University have designed a new type of energy storage that would charge much faster than traditional batteries. The change in the batteries’ internal structure allows them to access energy quicker than other models, resulting in a battery that can charge within seconds of being plugged in. The scientists have also found, though, that the early versions of this new battery have issues with degradation of the battery after multiple charges, meaning that it will be some time before the technique for creating them is perfected.

Cornell University is connected to NYSERNet’s R&E network.
