Columbia Engineers Develop Millimeter-wave Circulator IC - NYSERNet

Written by Christy Rohmer | Nov 2, 2017 4:00:00 AM

Researchers at Columbia Engineering led by associate Professor Harish Krishnaswamy in collaboration with UT-Austin Professor Andrea Alu and her team have constructed the first magnet-free non-reciprocal circulator on a silicon chip that operates at millimeter wave frequencies (near and above 30 GHz). The implications of this development could lead to advancements such as self-driving cars or the enhancement of wire VR technology experiences. This venture is funded by the National Science Foundation’s EFRI program, the DARPA SPAR program, as well Texas Instruments. Columbia University will be taking advantage of NYSERNet’s R&E network.
